Kristeen McTavish

Kristeen was born and raised in rural Ontario, on the outskirts of a small farming community.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Criminology from the University of Ottawa and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Community Health.  Kristeen has worked extensively in the not-for-profit and academic sectors, working with youth, research and science education programs.  She has focused her career around the intersection of research, health and capacity building.  In doing so, she  developed a passion for working to support communities in improving their wellness through research, access to quality data and self-determination.  Her past role as Manager for the Qanuippitaa? National Inuit Health Survey in Nunatsiavut further solidified this passion and the important roles that research and data sovereignty have as foundational elements of self-determination.  She currently lives in Whitehorse, on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, and works for the Council of Yukon First Nations, managing the Yukon First Nation Survey program as well as other data initiatives.
