Apply now for the 2018 FNIGC National Student Bursary

August 20, 2018 | The First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for its 2018 National Student Bursary. The 8th annual bursary will grant a $2,500 award—as well as free registration to FNIGC’s Fundamentals of OCAP® online course—to two First Nations post-secondary students enrolled in one of four fields of study:

  • epidemiology,
  • population health,
  • biostatistics, or
  • information and data management technology.

 The deadline for applications, which is open to status First Nations university or college students, is November 9, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Any status First Nations citizen or member pursuing a post-secondary degree (part- or full-time) in the fields listed above can apply.

 

A First Nations non-profit organization operating with a mandate from the Assembly of First Nations, FNIGC envisions that every First Nation will achieve data sovereignty in alignment with its distinct worldview.

As part of these efforts, FNIGC conducts unique data-gathering initiatives, such as the First Nations Regional Health Survey (FNRHS) and the First Nations Labour and Employment Development Survey (FNLED).

 FNIGC recognizes that quality information—collected by First Nations people for First Nations people—has the power to change lives by influencing knowledge based decision-making and inspiring effective policy and programs for all First Nations communities.
