What We Do

At the First Nations Information Governance Centre, we ensure that data gathering is done ethically, and that First Nations communities are empowered to use their data for their needs. We do that through research, education, partnerships and more.

Research and Information

The Research and Information team works in coordination with regional partners to provide oversight on a number of national survey initiatives, including the First Nations Regional Healthy Survey (RHS) and the First Nations Labour and Employment Development Survey (FNLED).

The team is also responsible for implementing and overseeing the organization’s strategic research plan – which includes the development of new research opportunities and associated products, knowledge translation, and coordination of the First Nations Data Centre (FNDC).

OCAP® and Information Governance

The OCAP® and Information Governance team is dedicated to advancing FNIGC’s Vision and Mission and works to ensure that the principles we uphold are supported throughout the organization and within all the work we do. To do this, the team leads education and training initiatives, engages in research and analysis, develops resources and tools, and works closely with regional partners.
